This category covers early childhood development & theory for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers.  Early childhood theory is the process of explaining how a child grows and changes throughout childhood.  Each theorist offers a unique perspective on child development and has strengths and weaknesses. Early Childhood Education develops standards based on these theories or ideas.  They constantly evolve and change as we learn and better understand complex brain development.

The main theorists and their main ideas are:

Piaget’s Theory of Cognitive Development
Dewey’s theory of “learning by doing”
Kohlberg’s Moral Stages
Jean Piaget’s Theory
Vygotsky’s Zone of Proximal Development
Erikson’s

My blog will examine these theorists, what they say, and how we can integrate their thoughts into a child’s daily life.
